Using your mind - imagination (2/3)

Everything in your life was first an idea and then it came into form.

The phone in your hand was first an idea in someone’s mind, from their imagination, and then it was created.

(this is the second part of this blog post)

Tool #2 Imagination

Whenever you want to create anything in your life, you naturally start with the idea of what it is you want, and then you go about bringing it into form. This is the creation process.

If you want greater vitality in your life, it starts with an idea of greater vitality and then, as you get more and more eager about this idea, you start to take new actions that move you in the positive direction of your vitality.

This week intentionally USE your imagination. Keep using your imagination to see what it is you want, keep generating excitement, and THEN act. If you act without using the power of imagination, you will be missing out on a key ingredient to creating change and it will feel like hard work. It will be hard work.

Without leveraging your imagination, you will have to gather up your will-power. Using just will-power you’ll eventually burn out and likely give up your pursuit of the new habits. Use your imagination today and every day this week.

Exercise:

Consider doing this 3x/day – each time you sit to eat a meal, for example. Remember: we think in pictures so use your imagination to picture yourself:

  • comfortably breathing as you move from one yoga posture to the next
  • lifting a big and heavy object with total ease
  • waking up in the morning, sun coming through your bedroom window, feeling rested, refreshed and eager for the day

Choose any picture that speaks to you and see yourself there now and at least 2 more times today. See yourself with your goal achieved and picture it first thing in the day and last thing at night and as many times as you can throughout the day.

Repetition over time. This is how you create what you want. Imagination is like a muscle and the more you practice it, the stronger it gets and the more you’ll be able to use it in order to move toward any goal.

Flex your imagination muscle this week.
